Nuestra Senora del Santisimo Rosario de La Naval de Manila (Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of the Fleet of Manila); considered to be the patroness of the City of Manila; saved the city, through her intercession, from the Dutch five times; in gratitude, the Governor General Luis Perez de Dasmarinas vowed to march in procession of her honor every year. The procession, held on October 7th, used to be attended by the creme de la creme of Manila high society; among the many jewels of the Virgin, of particular note is a golden pomengranate encrusted with diamonds given by His Highness Norodrom of Cambodia to Dona Josefa Roxas y Manio, to seek her hand in marriage; she declined, and offered it to the Virgin instead.
